Victorian era Antique Egg Pendant in 10k Gold with Paste Stones

Pendant diameter measures 13mm and overall length with ring is 25mm. Pale yellow gold egg tests as 10k with a 14k gold ring - color is well matched.

Egg is adorned with scroll line work and fitted with paste stones in green, red and clear. Overall pendant weight is 2.91 grams and the piece is in excellent antique condition.

This is likely part of the Russian tradition among affluent families to give girls an egg pendant each year before Easter. She’d wear them on a chain from Easter to Ascension Day, and over time the growing necklace sentimentally marked the years until her marriage. As an example of one of these necklaces, I've included a photograph of necklace made entirely of Fabergé eggs (source Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum).
