A special link style made by Italian classic jeweler UnAErre in Arezzo. Rather than linking loops of gold as we see (and love) with many chain styles, this piece is braided like a multi strand plait.

In my leather studies I'm obsessed with ancient techniques for leather braiding to create handles, whips, various equestrian accessories. Braiding and cordage is an ancient technology dating back 30,000 years or more.

This piece dates to 1944-1968 Italy. She is made entirely of 18k yellow gold and measures 16.75 inches long by 3.7mm wide. Necklace is designed to lay flat and closes with a secure box clasp with added safety loop. Marks for maker, location and gold purity. Very good vintage condition with normal age related wear.

I like to layer a flat link like this, underneath skinnier chains, for a broad gold highlight. This chain will make your stack pop!
