14k gold Finnish pearl pendant by Olli Auvinen 1968

A perfect gold sphere reveals its interior, a single floating pearl. A poignant inventive geometric form designed by one of the pioneers of Modern Finnish jewelry design, Olli Auvinen for Westerback. 

Goldsmith Olli Auvinen (active 1933-2007) started his career with G. Buchert in 1949, moved from there to Alppultata as a designer. He also designed jewelry for Westerback in the 1960s. He became a goldsmith at the Goldsmiths' School in 1965 and eventually became the school's director.

This pearl pendant is made of solid 14k yellow gold with hallmarks for maker, location, year and gold purity. Pendant measures 1 1/2" x 1/2" and weighs 2.4 grams total.
