1951 Gilt Silver White Enamel Butterfly Brooch by Tillander - 0.9 inch width
A stunning example of Guilloché enamel work by the well known and collectible maker, Tillander. Tillander is a multi generational prestigious Helsinki jewelry firm, with roots in Imperial Russia where Alexander Tillander senior completed his training.
Guilloché is an enamel technique where a jeweler layers translucent glass enamel over engraved metal, creating a gorgeous shimmering dimensional effect. This technique was made famous by Fabergé with the fabrication of Fabergé eggs.
This butterfly brooch is made of solid 916 silver with gold gilding and light blue and lavender enamel. The butterfly body is a cream white enamel. Piece has full Finnish hallmarks and dates to 1951. Brooch is in excellent vintage condition with normal age related wear.
I have 3 butterfly brooches, you may like the purple one and ultramarine blue piece as well.
