1968 Vintage 14k gold pearl pendant by Olli Auvinen for Westerback
A perfect gold sphere reveals its interior, a single floating pearl. A poignant inventive geometric form designed by one of the pioneers of Modern Finnish jewelry design, Olli Auvinen for Westerback.
Master goldsmith Olli Auvinen trained at Art and Design College of metal and sculpture and started his career with G. Buchert in 1949. He moved from there to Alppultata as a designer, and in the 1960s designed jewelry for Westerback. In 1965 he began teaching at the Finnish Goldsmith School and eventually became the school's director.
This pearl pendant is made of solid 14k yellow gold with full Finnish hallmarks for maker, location, year and gold purity. Pendant measures 1.5” long and weighs 2.4 grams total.
