Omg this necklace is DIVINE! For someone who loves gold link as textile, like I do (and you do as well if you follow me), this piece is a star⭐.

Elsa Peretti designed her original Mesh series in 1975 inspired by handmade mesh she saw made while traveling in India. She sought out help manufacturing something similar in Manhattan and with some assistance found early 20th century machines that were originally used to manufacture metal mesh evening bags. Thus her mesh dreams became reality. You can read more about iconic designer Elsa Peretti here. 

Peretti's 1975 Mesh collection included a mesh scarf and mesh bra. After 20+ years of success with 18k gold mesh, Peretti released the Mesh Necklace design in 1997. 

The Mesh Necklace ties behind the neck, utilizing the unique density of gold to counterbalance and drape beautifully behind the neck. Somewhere along the way, a previous owner added a hook clasp to this particular necklace. You can keep it or remove it - I like that it gives an extra layer of security.

Necklace measures approximately 21 inches inches long when tied, with a graduated width 7-18 mm. Piece is made entirely of 18 karat yellow gold and has full hallmarks for maker and gold purity. Condition is excellent with little to no signs of wear. Comes to you in Tiffany packaging including a vintage blue box.
