Circa 1900 Antique 18k Gold Longuard Rolo Link Chain with Dog Clip - 30.5 inch doubled necklace length
Wear this antique rolo (aka belcher) longuard chain as a versatile double strand or triple strand necklace with dog clip clasp. Chain is long enough that you can even tie it in knot!
Guard chains were popular in the Victorian era and women would wear them in various configurations, across and around the body.
This necklace has a dog clip which clasps by clipping it over the looped chain. You can wear it in the front or to the side to attach and display your charm collection. You can also leave the clip free and just loop the long chain overhead 2-3 times. See photos for styling inspiration.
Overall chain length measures 61 inches x 2mm wide. When worn as an even length double strand necklace, it measures approximately 30.5 inches long with a 7/8 inch dog clip. Piece weighs 20.53 grams and is in excellent antique condition.
Made circa 1900, piece has the triple crown stamp for Sweden and the gold purity stamp 765 (an old standard that is slightly more than 750, 18k gold).

I saw it. I fell in love with it. I had to have it. With a short text and a phone call to Jill, it became mine. I truly did not think that it would be possible for me to wear this beautiful piece as the original rolo-link chain that the stone hung from was only 16.5 inches in length. I needed at least a 20 inch chain. Undaunted, Jill told me that she would look for a longer chain in the same rolo-link style but with a lobster clasp that I prefer.
