1958 Modernist Swedish 18k Gold Hinged Bangle with Pearls - by Stigbert - 7 inch interior circumference
This very special midcentury era Swedish 18k gold bangle is oval shaped with a rectangular hollow cross-section and is set with a perfect line of dozens of small pearls. Pearls each measure approximately 1.8 mm in diameter and have blue tones. So pretty and unique! Pearls are set on a hidden interior wire so they are super secure and cannot fall out of place.
Interior of this oval bracelet has a circumference of approximately 7 inches and hinges opens wide for easy on and off. Piece weighs 8.6g and measures 3.5 mm wide.
Bangle closes with a tongue clasp with secure double safety eights. Swedish hallmarks for maker (two marks actually - see note below), gold purity, and location. Very good vintage condition.
Atelier Stigbert is one of the best known producers of Swedish Modernist and midcentury jewelry. Stigbert was founded by the goldsmith Stig Engelbert in the early 1940s. The Atelier was organized as a modern branch within the older company, Heribert Engelbert, and therefore the pieces have two sets of maker's marks, that of the Atelier, and that of the company.
This sublime Modernist 18k gold bangle is chic and clean and plays beautifully with others.
