Guard chains were popular in the Victorian era and women would wear them in various configurations, across and around the body.
Overall chain length measures 61 inches x 1.1mm wide. When worn as an even length double strand necklace, it measures approximately 30.5 inches long with a well working spring clasp. Piece weighs 12.38 grams and is in excellent antique condition.
Dated 1899, piece is signed for maker, and has stamps for gold purity and the triple crown stamp for Sweden.
